Mrs Noelene Bloomfield

She is currently a Research Fellow in the latter institution.
During her career, some notable achievements are as follows:
- Senior Lecturer and Convenor of the Department of French Studies at UWA
- Chief Examiner - Tertiary Entrance Examination (French) for the Western Australian Secondary Education Authority, 1994-97
- Distinguished Teaching Award, UWA, 1995
- Convenor, then Chair of Terra Australis 2001 from 1997-2000; this was a WA Committee under the patronage of the President of France, to celebrate the Bicentenary of the 1800-1804 Baudin Expedition to Australia
- Extensive travel in France in 1993, 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2007, to collect information on the many French expeditions to Australia
- Author, Voyage of Discovery, CIS Publications, Melbourne 1990
- Author and Producer of A French Australia? Almost! an educational CD-ROM relating to the French expeditions to Australia. Published jointly by Breakwater Pty. Ltd. and UWA, 2004
- Script-writer, Director and Producer, French Exploration of the Australian Coast, first in video, now in a DVD format. Published jointly by Breakwater Pty. Ltd. and UWA, 2005
- Translator of the Freycinet Documents, for Mr Peter Woods, Principal and Director of the Woodside Valley Foundation, UWA, Perth, 2005
- Presenter of an Exhibition entitled "A French Australia? Almost!", which was exhibited in ten locations within Australia and 3 overseas, between 2005-2008. A French language version is currently circulating in France.
- Invited Speaker on French Expeditions to Australia at two international conferences and eight national conferences between 1997 - 2008
As well as being one of the foremost scholars in this country in the area of the French exploration in the southern oceans, Noelene Bloomfield was made a Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques (Order of France) by the French Government in 2004, for her contributions to French culture.
