Research work for degrees:

1998 Dr. Phil. thesis “Großvaterland. Untersuchungen zu Thomas Bernhards (Auto)-Biographie”. The thesis examines the relationship between ancestry, mother - fatherland and identity as problematised by the Austrian writer Thomas Bernhard in his autobiographical pentalogy.
1995 Ph.D. thesis: “Walter Kaufmann. Eine Fallstudie in Bikulturalismus”. The thesis highlights the creative tension of displacement as experienced by the Jewish-German-Australian writer Walter Kaufmann.
1993 M.A. thesis: “Die Funktion des Großvaters für Thomas Bernhard”. The thesis analyses the dynamic relationship between the two Austrian writers Johannes Freumbichler and Thomas Bernhard and the influence of the former on the works of the latter.
